Based on an image from (thank you!) I just kinda did this one as it came to me. Like so many others, I started it while watching a movie...and had no friggin clue where I was going with it.
Fluid Acrylic on drk. slate blue colourfix paper. I used gloss medium this time, and quite like the effect. Can't tell from a scan though, but it makes almost a satiny leather like surface.
Anyway, I got kinda sick of staring at it and tweaking so I signed it and posted.
yeah, i disappear alot when it comes to internet things. i just don't have the patience. i don't know how Nick does it. i'd just want to off myself if i had like 600 messages. :/
hey, I used gloss medium on my skyscape painting! I really hate how glossy it comes out, but it's nice sometimes. this is really beautiful, and I love how you've totally made the original stock image your own! It seems like a lot of people just change one thing about the original stock image and call it their own.
Yeah, gloss medium is a bit on the glossy side, and makes work a pain in the A to photograph, but satin works too. I just love how the varnish brings out the color. I don't think I've ever used it on a canvas painting, only paper/board type illustrations. ^_^
I try to use stock imagery as a jumping off point, or a vehicle for ideas more so than making an exact replica...most of the time.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.

We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
